The Matrix features a textured black mother of pearl dial that appears almost entirely black at first glance. When light strikes the surface at the right angle, subtle iridescent colors emerge and shift, creating the impression of movement beneath the surface. The texture evokes the depth of a dark ocean, where form is suggested rather than revealed.
Mother of pearl is formed organically over time, layer by layer. In this execution, it serves as a visual metaphor for the void, often described as tohu va vohu—formless, unbounded, and full of unrealized potential. The dial does not demand attention. It rewards observation.
Japanese Precision Movement
The case is formed from marine-grade steel, selected for its resistance and long-term durability. Inside, a 21-jewel Miyota Calibre 82S0 automatic movement keeps time with steady mechanical precision. The exhibition caseback leaves the movement visible and is finished with a discreet inscription engraved into the steel.
Limited Production
Only 100 pieces were produced. Given current international tariff conditions, it is unlikely that this model will be reproduced. The Gethsemane was designed to be worn, lived with, and passed on. It reflects a balance between natural material and human engineering, between tradition and function.
